Retired actor Robin Greenfield and his wife Val discovered their ideal retirement home, a one-bedroom ground-floor apartment at Waverley House in New Milton, Hampshire which they are renting through retirement rental specialists My Future Living. The couple, married for 37 years, have lived an unusually festive chapter together. During Robin’s acting career, the pair spent six weeks in Lapland playing Santa and Mrs Claus. Their time there was so secretive they weren’t even allowed to leave the house in case they were recognised by visiting children and their families. Now, years later, the pair joke that they’ve finally hung up their red suits for good and settled somewhere far less snowy but just as magical. For Robin and Val, finding a long-term home they could grow old in was the priority. Val says: “We were adamant our next home needed to give us independence and comfort as we got older. We didn’t want stairs; we didn’t want to feel isolated or to become a burden to our children. Downsizing from two bedrooms sounded daunting at first, but our new apartment is cosy, spacious and suits us completely.” Robin adds: “As soon as we saw the ground-floor apartment with its outdoor space, we knew it was the one. We already enjoy sitting outside on a summer’s evenings, chatting with neighbours and enjoying the landscaped gardens.
